September 24th, 2004: The Car leaves Hamburg
On Thursday 23rd, Mathias drives 16 hours in a fairly windy weather from Feusisberg/
Switzerland to Hamburg/Germany. There he receives a very warm welcome from Tom & Gwen,
our friends since the trip to Namibia which will be remembered for the great kitesurfing,
juicy barbecues, and adventurous 4*4 trips to the desert.
Of course, the night is rather short, as there are a lot of news to be
exchanged, and, in memoriam Namibia, some (well, a rather huge amount of ;-)) grilled meat
and wine to be relished...
Thanx a lot, Tom & Gwen, for your hospitality!
Friday morning, Tom and Mathias bring the Landcruiser to the packaging station
where, according to the plan of our Spedition Behlich, it is supposed enter the container.
They are there on time (or almost ;-) ), and so is the container...
From distance, the container looks roomy enough...
...The car needs just a bit of centering when driving in...
...But the height turns out to be a real challenge (maybe the Dobinsons
Suspension Kit turns out to be more efficient than planned ;-) ...
...Finally, after having reduced the air pressure in the tires drastically, and with three heavy men sitting on the back bench...
...The car is in :-)...
...ready for a trip to Costa Rica
In the meantime, we have a lot of fun in Hamburg,
including a sight-seeing by canoe and a great rock concert.
All in all, a great start :-)
